However, after discussing it here and reading others experiences (bad ones) I do not feel safe giving it to my girls anymore. So, I want everyone's opinions and thoughts on the best flea/tick and heart worm preventative for a small breed dog. With Flea/Tick medications the spot on type some kill and others repel AND kill. Due to heavy tick population where I live, I want it to repel AND kill. Kill only meds the tick/flea must bite the dog to die.

Repel and kill meds do the same thing but also keep pests from biting be repelling. I change what I use every other year. I thought at first it might be a tick, but since I've never had a tick on my dogs,I looked online, and all those seem to have a head or legs or something, this doesn't. Also, how big was the tick? If you can see its mouthparts it probably wasn't a deer tick.
